At Sunfield Home School Verulam, every class is led by qualified educators who are supported by skilled assistant educators. Our specialized academic and skills-based training programs align with the CAPs and D-CAPs curriculum, under the guidance of the Kwa-Zulu Natal Department of Basic Education. We tailor our interactive curriculum to meet the unique needs of each learner, whether they have Cognitive Impairments, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Down Syndrome, or Mild Cerebral Palsy.
Staffing
Our school prides itself on spacious, air-conditioned classrooms that ensure a comfortable learning environment. With small class sizes of 9–13 children, we cater to learners between the ages of 6 and 23 years, fostering both individual attention and a sense of community.
Classroom Environment

We offer comprehensive hostel services with 24-hour supervision, operating seven days a week. Our two age-appropriate hostels are supported by resident housemothers who provide dedicated care. Additional amenities include clinic and sick bay facilities, dietician-approved nutritious meals, and laundry services.
Hostel Services
Our outreach initiatives aim to create awareness and foster inclusion. These include an Autism Awareness Campaign every April, Casual Day in September, and operating a resource center that offers support to neighboring mainstream schools by assessing referred learners and guiding them toward appropriate interventions.

We provide a holistic program that combines functional academics with diverse extracurricular offerings. Students gain exposure to entrepreneurial skills, including hospitality, hair and beauty, pottery, agricultural studies, arts and crafts, woodworking, needlework, maintenance, and bead/jewelry making. Other activities include on-the-job training, music, computer skills, physical education and sports (cricket, soccer, volleyball, table tennis, athletics, swimming, and traditional games), and access to play facilities such as jungle gyms, trampolines, outdoor exercise equipment, and cycle tracks.
